Sremski Karlovci, gradić sme- šten na obroncima Fruške gore, privlači pažnju kako bogatstvom kulturno-istorijskih spomenika i mno- gobrojnim vinarijama, tako i prirod- nim lepotama. Osim značajnih spo- menika kulture koje možete posetiti u Karlovcima, taj gradić ima i mno- ge prirodne lepote. Jedna od njih se posebno izdvaja – Karlovačko ostrvo, koje je nastalo pre petnaestak godi- na, i to nakon što su nasute male bra- ne od kamena. Kada kažemo Maldi- vi ili Majmunsko ostrvo, mislimo na taj isti sprud, koji se pri niskom vo- dostaju pojavljuje tačno preko puta Sremskih Karlovaca. GASTRO-UŽIVANCIJA Riba je oduvek zauzimala značaj- no mesto u ishrani stanovnika ovih prostora, kako zbog velikog broja re- ka, kanala i jezera, tako i iz tradici- onalnih i verskih razloga. Priprema se na razne načine – na roštilju, pr- ženjem na ulju ili masti, pečenjem u rerni… Na trpezi u Vojvodini najza- stupljeniji je šaran, omiljena su i je- la od smuđa, soma, štuke, deverike, kečige… Riblja čorba i paprikaši su neizostavan deo jedinstvene gastro- nomske ponude. Osim ribljih specija- liteta, čarde nude i veliki izbor speci- jaliteta domaće kuhinje, poput raznih vrsta mesa sa roštilja, pita i gibani- ca, ali i slatkiša, kao što je štrudla sa makom. Naravno, nezaobilazan deo posete čardama je i degustacija ču- venih vojvođanskih vina.

Alongside the important monuments of culture that you can tour in Karlovci, this town also has many natural attractions. One of them that stands out in particular is Karlovci Island, which formed fifteen years ago, following the raising of small stone embankment dams. When we say the Maldives or Monkey Island, we’re referring to that specific sandbank that ap- pears when water levels are low directly opposite Sremski Karlovci.
BELEGIŠ RIVER ISLANDS
The Belegiš Adas (river islets) were named after the village of Belegiš, which is located in the eastern part of Srem, on the right bank of the Danube, around 36km north of Belgrade. On the main course of the Danube along which Belegiš sprawls, there are numerous river islands that are genuine mini oases for campers and lov- ers of nature, rivers and fishing. The Belegiš River Islands constitute a tourist attraction in their own right, while they are certainly the most attractive and highest quality des- tinations for bathers and nautical tourists in this part of the districts of Srem and Ba- nat. Located on the Danube between the Srem and Banat riverbanks, particularly in- teresting among them are the Great Ada and Small Ada. The Great Ada is famous for the very popular and well-visited sand beach located on its northern part, while on the eastern side there are three tribu- taries that are unavoidable spots for an- gling enthusiasts. The Small Ada is ideal for landing pleasure boats and boasts at- tractive sandy beaches and camping areas.

GASTRONOMIC ENJOYMENT
Fish has always occupied a signifi- cant place in the diet of this area’s resi- dents, due to the large number of rivers, canals and lakes, but also for traditional and religious reasons. Prepared in vari- ous ways – grilled, fried with oil or fat, baked in the oven... The most common fish represented in Vojvodina spreads is carp, while favourite dishes also include the pike-like Zander, Wels catfish, North- ern pike, Common bream, sturgeon etc. Thick fish soups and paprikash are inevi- table inclusions in this unique gastronom- ic offer. Alongside fish specialities, čarda restaurants also offer a wide selection of local specialities, such as various types of grilled meat, pies and gibanica (cheese pie), as well as desserts like poppy-seed strudel. Of course, sampling famous Vo- jvodina wines also represents an unmiss- able part of visiting a čarda.
