I ’d never been on a cruise, so I responded to the invitation to spend five days on a luxury ship sailing around the Athe- nian islands by jumping for joy like a child. My joy was not enduring, howev- er, because concerned friends posed so many questions to which I did not have answers that at one point I suffered a se- rious panic attack! What if you get seasick; what will you do if you feel claustrophobic? And the worst question of all – where’s your cabin? Is it below the deck, at what level under the sea? That was the point at which my mem- ory immediately recalled the unfortunate Leonardo di Caprio, who spent half the film trying to get to the upper decks, while his poor companions on the lower decks of the Titanic had absolutely no chance of sur- viving, which was already all well known. I told myself not to be crazy, given that a piano could drop on my head at any time in the middle of Belgrade, and besides, if I’m going to be a character from Titanic, then I’ll definitely be Kate Winslet, and not the poor di Caprio. And so I flew to Athens, convinced that everything would be just fine and that there was no reason to worry. The truth is that my expectations were not even close to what awaited me! A beautiful yacht, neither big nor small, with the completely adequate name of Harmony, was a true dream! With around twenty cabins, all of which were more than comfortable, the size of small hotel rooms and equipped with everything that would await you in any hotel room. Apart from that, none of them are below the water lev- el, so fears of being hit by claustrophobia or, God forbid, having problems like the aforementioned film hero, blew away in- stantaneously on the warm Greek wind. All that was left was to determine wheth- er or not I suffer from seasickness, but that issue also turned out to be completely un- necessary. The rocking of the boat was so gentle, almost imperceptible, that it re- ally only added to the enjoyment. On a boat you sleep as though in the arms of Morpheus... As for everything else... Imagine that you awaken every morning with the view of an island, and that you retire each evening in the light of another. Imagine the boat anchoring beside wild, untouched beaches that you would never reach other than by sea, and that you swim in water as clean as tears. Then conjure for yourself the scene on deck, with a wind that doesn’t allow you to feel uncomfortably hot for a mo- ment, as you enjoy fresh fish and seafood specialities. Shrimp on skewers, grilled oc- topus, squid prepared in several different ways, mussels, crabs etc.
