Gleda- la sam i teatarske komade San let- nje noći , Šumu Ostrovskog, u kojoj sam igrala u JDP-u, Uobraženog bo- lesnika ... Kad smo kod finskog, naučila sam mnogo reči. Prvo da se amba- sada kaže „suurlahetestu“, a glumica i glumac „nejtolija“, jer nemaju rodove. Finci su lepi ljudi. Nisu sve žene plavuše, a kad jesu, imaju porcelanski ten i istaknute jagodice. Nisu mno- go visoki. U biti su skromni, ni- su paničari, niti hladni, pre bih rekla • Helsinki has been the capital city for 200 years. The capital used to be the university centre of Turku. O FINSKOJ SMO OD CECE SAZNALI I OVO •Prosečna plata je oko 3.000 evra bru- to, trećina plate ide u državni budžet. FROM CECA WE ALSO LEARNED THIS ABOUT FINLAND • The average monthly gross salary is around 3,000 euros, with a third of wa- ges going to the state budget • Their lunchbreak is from 12 to 1, dinner is at 7, as is the start of theatre plays and concerts. The streets are deserted in the evenings

music concerts are always sold out, while the most beautiful amphitheatre is in the Mu- sic Centre, which opened in 2011, intended for performances of symphony orchestras. Their icon of architecture is Alvar Aal- to, who designed the beautiful Finlandia Hall, where concerts are held. He also de- signed the Opera and Ballet building. For façades he mostly used white marble from Carrara, which holds up well in the Finn- ish climate. In the centre of Helsinki is the beautiful old building of the National The- atre, with three stages for its dramatic rep- ertoire. I mostly watched the classic reper- toire, because I know the dialogue, so the Finnish language was not a barrier for me. I also watched the theatre plays A Midsum- mer Night’s Dream, Ostrovsky’s The Forest, which I performed in at the Yugoslav Drama Theatre, Pretentious Patients etc. Speaking of the Finnish language, I learned many things. First that embassy is pronounced “suurlahetestu”, and that ac- tress and actor is “nejtolija”, because they don’t have gender differences. Finns are pretty people. All the wom- en aren’t blonde, but when they are they have a porcelain complexion and promi- nent cheekbones. They’re not overly tall. They are spontaneously kind and all speak English. They don’t socialise much, which is probably the lifestyle. They are very diligent and meticulous in everything they do. In fact they are mod- est, they don’t panic and aren’t cold, I’d rath- er say that they are discreet. When meeting they rarely kiss – more often choosing to em- brace and shake hands. They value minimal- ism and a measured approach to everything. The national speciality is reindeer meat, so I tried reindeer stew, however I’m not en- thused by the cuisine – I’m accustomed to gourmet, spicier flavours. Finns are like two different peoples in summer and winter. Eager for the sun, as soon as they feel the first rays they sit in cafés, often laughing and sunbathing. Spring comes in May, while summer is beautiful from late June to late August, then in late September the rains begin. However, it is not as cold as in earli- er years, with winter at around minus ten. In summer they have long days and white nights. I liked the white nights; I didn’t even lower the shutters. I found it wonderful to have daylight at 11.30pm. In Finland it was really nice for me, and we stayed just long enough for it not to be- come routine, but I still wouldn’t live there. Actually, apart from my hometown there’s nowhere else I would live. After a month I once again grew accustomed to Belgrade, happy to be back in the city. I had longed for acting and my life in Belgrade.

The Serbian diaspora in Finland is small, although we met people from mixed marriages, mostly Finnish women with Serbian men, but also vice versa

i bele noći.
