ling two-hour show, and I was wearing a mask. I felt like a real actor when I felt I had the attention of all those kids. I also listened to what children say in the audience: some are thrilled, someone nags their grandma to go home because they are bored, or I hear a third voice saying: what is this fool doing?! For me, Puž is the best theatre in our country and around the world.
I’M NOT A VIP
Actors do not have PR agents, manag- ers, chau eurs... As long as you can meet actors as a passerby, there is no VIP sta- tus. When I encountered Dragan Nikolić on the street as a boy, I was so happy and excited. He was unreal to me, then we act- ed together in “Montevideo”. After many years, it happened to me that some boy recognised me on the street and hid with his mum due to nerves. I approached and greeted him. I don’t play the star who’s late and acts like a spoilt kid. I’m not a star, I have too many rounded ends.

IF I COULD MANAGE WITHOUT A MOBILE
I wouldn’t work in an oce, if I didn’t have to, I’d rather drive a taxi or restore classic cars if I didn’t have xed working hours. I have an ochre-coloured “Beetle” from 1966. I bought it with the rst royal- ty payment from Montevideo and would never sell it.
Earlier I had more normal relationships, withlotsoftrustandagreement.Thereisnone of that today. And fakery is easier. We need someone to tolerate our needs. I come home from work and sometimes wish that no one will ask me anything for hours. I need my freedom. I’ve always been airy - I’m Gemi- ni-Libra. I have no need to be a Latin seduc- er, I’ve been through all sorts and don’t need to prove myself. I don’t have a list of adoring fans for one each day. My taste in women has changed. It feels nice when someone looks at me in love, caresses my soul. It’s hard to endure with someone. I most like to spend my free time with my mother, sisters and their children. I go with my friends to a restaurant for grub. I‘ve started reading books again – for a long time I didn’t have the concentration. I only choose the best of friends for myself.
I y from set to set, from show to show. I make good money, nothing epochal. I don’t want anything to impose itself on me as a lifestyle. I’m sorry that I have a mobile phone. All the biggest faces in my business don’t have mobile phones. I want to be a guest on a show as a dude with sunglasses and not as a“chav”. Everyone can wear the same model of shades in a di erent way.
MUM JELENA AND DAD RADOJICA
Mum Jelena is gentle, wonderful. She was a folk dancer, along with dad, in the Kolo ensemble. Dad Radojica was an un- believable guy. At the age of 14 he be- came the chief of the dancers. As lead- er of the Kolo folk ensemble, he toured the whole world and only hasn’t been to Argentina. He was capable of making a miracle from just a few ingredients. He returned from the road in March 2019 and died from a heart attack on the street that same day. We had a tacit agreement not to speak to one another about work too much. I recently cried at a rehearsal when I remembered my dad.
THEATRE AS TRAINING
It means something to me to perform in the theatre almost every day as a kind of training. There are top lm actors who don’t need the theatre, like Srđan Todorović, but I’m not one of those. I’ve always tried to act both in lm and theatre. Actors make mon- ey from lms, while the theatre gives them the training to deal with acting in the best possible way on every acting scene. I love the Belgrade Drama Theatre, our theatre on the‘Cross’[Belgrade’s Red Cross neighbour- hood], I love that part of town, where I live. I’d love to perfect my English and per- form in Hollywood. I’m sure I wouldn’t be a worse actor than theirs. During the shoot- ing for Montevideo I met Armand Assanti, who admitted that we’re not lacking talent here compared to their actors, while many are even better than them. It would be mag- nicent, for example, to play in some sequel to the lm The Godfather. I love the acting of Daniel Day-Lewis, Joaquin Phoenix, Gary Old- man, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro et al.
AT HEART I’M A 20 YEAR OLD
I’m younger than my 35 years. My soul stopped at 20-something. It was nice for me at that age, and that’s where I got trapped in my comprehension of the world. I also get hit by dicult moments, and then I isolate my- self at home with the blinds lowered. I don’t have a problem with a good cry either. I can’t forgive myself for some things. I was purer in my soul. But even today I’m sometimes naive, you can bowl me over however you like. I promised my dad in 2018 that I would take him to Ada Bojana and then I cancelled. I regret that. I wouldn’t have done that be- fore. One gives up in these slimy times...
BOLE AND LEA
I kiss my dogs on the muzzle when I see them; they are among the strongest things that can strike a man. I have two of them - Bole and Lea. We have a big yard. I have also travelled up to 200 kilometres to adopt a dog, I’m always sorry to see them alone and abandoned.
