nature that helps the productivity of those who make their office here. A global trend shows that more and more people are leav- ing cities and closing the doors to corpora- tions and the 9-to-5 life. - Our idea is that you have everything you need here: fast internet and good ser- vice while you are in nature, breathing fresh air. Here is a great place for positively isolated work. The co-working space allows freelanc- ers and people engaged in projects to asso- ciate and meet. People who work from home can have a problem of loneliness and poor quality of social networking. This co-working and co-living space allows you to meet peo- ple who could be your business partners or clients tomorrow. Four companies have also been launched here, thanks to people coming together, meeting and associating. We offer time, as there’s no travelling to work, no wait- ing in queues and you have staff who clean, so you don’t have to do anything besides your work and relaxing,”says manager Brkl- jač, drinking elderberry juice he made himself. And relaxation is guaranteed, firstly be- cause the peace and tranquillity of this small place massage the body, which is tense due to the hysteria of the big city. The Relax part of the house, with a gym and bio-pool, a bike that you ride along Banat’s mild roads – all of thismakesitseemlikeyou’vecometoMokrin for a holiday. The well-preserved secret that time moves more slowly in a small town ex- plains why the digital nomads who come say that they are able to complete work here in a single day that would require five days to do in an office in the city. When the Orient Express train started running between Paris and Istanbul in 1873, Mokrin was one of the original stations. Ivan explains that they want to restore Mokrin’s status as an unavoidable stop for all those who travel and work. - Back then this village was connect- ed to the world. You could go directly from here to Paris or Vienna. And then the railroad stopped operating. We are trying, using the internet and our programme of co-working and co-living, to reconnect this village with the world. In order to do that, we need to bring foreigners who can be part of the glob- al village and can prevent the collapse of the local community. This was once the largest village in the former Yugoslavia, with 13,500 inhabitants, while now there are just 5,000. We are working on the revitalisation of the village itself. We buy everything we can from local people, supporting the local economy, while contents for people and children from Mokrin and Kikinda are free. Our ultimate idea is to make the first truly global village, to bring together digital villagers, to be part of a large community – says Ivan, explaining his Mokrin mission.
