In the first three quarters of 2021, the Serbian natio- nal airline carried 40% more passengers than it did thro- ughout the whole of 2020, a year that was marked by the biggest crisis in the history of global air transport, when it carried a total of 899,877 passengers. Air Ser- bia managed to achieve better results than the indu- stry average in 2020 and 2021, according to the majo- rity of indicators, despite the coronavirus pandemic and travel restrictions. With the summer season and increa- sed demand for scheduled and charter flights, Air Ser- bia slashed the difference in the number of passengers carried in August 2021 to -24.3% compared to the sa- me month of the record-breaking 2019, while the glo- bal average was -63.3% and the European average was -52%. “We are proud of the results achieved in the first ni- ne months of 2021, especially having in mind the specific circumstances under which we are operating. We con- stantly and carefully monitor demand and adjust our ca- pacities on the most popular destinations in our network.

We believe that it was this flexibility and quick response that contributed the most to the result. We are particu- larly happy that, as the largest carrier at Belgrade airport, we have made a significant contribution to the overall recovery of traffic. In the coming period, we will rema- in committed to our goal of fully returning to the 2019 le- vel, but with a dose of caution, focusing on monitoring the development of the situation”, said Jiri Marek, Gene- ral Manager, Commercial and Strategy, at Air Serbia. Air Serbia carried a total of 193,000 passengers on scheduled and charter flights in September, whi- ch is 80% more than the same month in 2020, when it carried 107,464 passengers. The national airline has achieved constant growth in passenger numbers since the start of the summer season, having carried 68% more passengers in June than in May, while the July result was 63% higher compared to June. In Au- gust, Air Serbia carried more than 300,000 passen- gers on scheduled and charter flights, representing the monthly record for 2021
