PIKNIK NA ŠIP MEDOUU Čuveni travnjak Šip medou ne možete da promašite. Pro- stran je i apsolutno neodoljiv. Od početka maja, pa sve do sre- dine oktobra, ispunjen je do poslednjeg milimetra. Transforma- cija ovog dela Central parka iz stenovitog zemljišta u idealno lepu poljanu bio je najskuplji poduhvat u okviru rekonstruk- cije ovog dela Menhetna. U drugoj polovini 19. i početkom 20. veka, tačnije između 1864. i 1934, na ovom mestu nalazile su se poljane za ispašu ovaca, pa su Njujorčani tek 80-ih godina mogli da se dive ma- loj zelenoj oazi. Danas je ovo jedno od najpopularnijih mesta za relaksaciju, piknik, puštanje zmajeva, sunčanje... Međutim, pronaći mesto za peškir ili stolice tokom leta prava je misija. Ali uspećete ako poranite. PICNIC ON SHEEP MEADOW
The famous field of Sheep Meadow is not to be missed. It is spacious and absolutely irresistible. From early May to mid-October it is filled to the last millimetre. The transformation of this part of Central Park from rocky terrain into a beautiful idyllic meadow was the most expensive un- dertaking in the project to reconstruct this part of Manhattan. In the late 19 th and early 20 th centuries, or more precisely between 1864 and 1934, this place had a meadow for grazing sheep, but it was only in the 1980s that New Yorkers could admire this little green oasis. To- day it is one of the most popular places for relaxing, picnicking, kite flying, sunbathing etc. However, finding a place for a towel or chair during the summer is a real mission, but you’ll manage if you get there early enough.

Established in the 1980s, it represents one of the most popular free summer festivals in the city. The stage is located beside the entrance from 5 th Avenue and 69 th Street. MONTH IN HONOUR OF SHAKESPEARE
Shakespeare in the Park is one of the most popular summer events in New York. The performing of Shakespeare’s plays under the open sky began in the 1960s, and those having performed to date on the sum- mer stage include Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Denzel Washington et al. How to get tickets? They are distributed every weekday at noon, so it would be best to get in line early in the morning. An online lottery is also organised. Try registering for the dai- ly lottery through the official link, because you might just get two tickets for a show in the park that day. Note: try to arrive early be- fore the show in order to find the best possible seats. You can buy snacks and wine at nearby kiosks. Look at the stars and enjoy your- self. And, oh yes, don’t forget a raincoat and hat in case you are sur- prised by a summer shower. Umbrellas are not allowed in the ar- ea of the stage.
