The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the need for a new way of life, and that includes weddings – new trends, new experiences, new design elements, and all to ensure this new beginning is still commemorated in the right way
W e are entering the second year of the COVID crisis and, all things consid- ered, the wedding scenes that we've grown accustomed to will only re- main visible in Facebook memories and Instagram archives for some time to come. Although we can't re- sist feeling nostalgic for all those lit- tle things that have meaning in life and for major dates that we like to remember, future newlyweds have an agonising dilemma: should they stick to the scheduled date but re- duce the volume of celebrations, or should they completely cancel their planned wedding? Many couples who find them- selves confronted by the option of either cancelling their celebration or redesigning it in accordance with the new normal are choosing the lat- ter – with the realisation that this is much better and more beautiful than the megalomaniacal plans that they'd originally made. Many pro- fessional wedding planners believe that the pandemic has actually been stimulating, because it has com- pelled us to reconsider our priori- ties. Couples now have to ask them- selves the most important question of all: “Why are we even having a wedding?” If the answer is a pure desire to celebrate love, instead of an incentive to impress the neigh-
