Lalibela, putovanje u afrički Jerusalim Journey to Jerusalem of Africa-Lalibela
W hen I was 14 years old, on my grandfather’s bookshelf I came across the 1956 year- book of LIFE magazine. I then saw those unbelievable grainy black & white photos, which seemed almost as though they were painted. I had no idea that a cam- era could do something like that – says Gali Tibbon, an independent photo reporter, doc- umentary photographer and Canon explor- er, at the start of her interview for Elevate. Not long passed before she bought her first second-hand camera and enrolled in a photography course at the Museum of Isra- el in Jerusalem. She was the only child on the course. There she learned to print and process her black & white films, mastering the basics of photography. Not once since then has she been abandoned by her urge to record the moment and capture time. She says that, for her, photography is an- other language, a medium through which she expresses herself. - I live in Jerusalem, a city that is at the centre of political tension, but which is al- so the cradle of three religions. Every stone I step on exudes history and, provided you are imaginative, inspiration is everywhere. I grew up as a secular being, but that doesn’t stop me from admiring the power of faith and religion – says Gali, revealing how she gradually learned the difference between religion and spirituality. That’s why she seeks
vanje novih kultura i ljudi, skupljanje divnih uspomena.
