O n – naučnik svetskog glasa, matematičar, astro- nom, klimatolog, tvorac najsavršenijeg kalen- dara i još štošta, a ona – prefinjenog pedigrea i manira, sa propisnim poznavanjem solo-pe- vanja i sviranja klavira. Naučen na bečko izražavanje kur- toazije damama – kitnjastim komplimentima – u slučaju Hristine bio je opomenut. Tako će devojci uništiti repu- taciju i prilike za udaju u drugačije skrojenom Beogradu. On stade da razmisli, usput pišući raspravu o konstitu- ciji atmosfere Marsa. I prelomi! Mladoj dami je izneo ose- ćanja, na sreću obostrana. Već medeni mesec odveo ih je iz srpske prestonice uoči Prvog svetskog rata. Adresa Mi- lankovića je sledećih godina bila u Budimpešti. Dobili su sina Vasilija, a po preseljenju u Beograd, iz- državali su se od Milutinove profesorske plate i zvanja in- ženjera građevinarstva.
