INTERVIEW: BRUNO LANGER, MUSICIAN What retirement?! I'll perform rock until my last breath After 56 years of performing, I really miss travelling and hanging out with the audience at concerts. I'm fully ready for the opening of the post-pandemic music scene, because my intention is to play rock as long as I live L egendary Yugoslav rock band Atomsko Sklonište [Atomic Shelter] is this year cele- brating 45 years of its work, and Bruno Langer is commemorating 50 years of marriage. He considers himself a very successful and un- concealed bigamist, because neither his wife nor the band have had any complaints to date. The many years of his marriage and the existence of the Atoms clear- ly demonstrate that this symbiosis is very successful ... And that it endures! A career lasting 45 years is certainly fasci- nating. How do you feel when looking back? “Looking back is certainly better than looking at the present. That’s not only because I was younger, so it could be classified under the category of nostalgia, but also because, even with all the problems of that time, those were more pleasant times than the present. I’m afraid that, ten years from now, today’s young people won’t have any reason to recall these times with nos- talgia. As for the length of my career, my first perfor- mance was on 2 nd May 1965 at the Youth Centre in a small town near Pula with the group Logaritmi [Log- arithms]. Atomsko Sklonište had its first rehearsal on 26 th February at the Valovine tourist camp in Pula.” The concert album “Those Who Come After Us” is current. How come you made a new al- bum after 25 years? “The feeling is great, in line with the saying that youth and experience is the best combination for suc- cess. Specifically, in the current line-up of Atomsko Sklonište, alongside myself, Matija Dadić (the grand- son of Saša Dadić, a member of the first line-up from 1976) plays guitar and his peer, Eric Vojak, is on drums. In this case, it’s a new album with old songs. Of course, considering that this is a concert release from 2019, these old songs were performed with new energy that rejuvenates them and keeps them current. The album is completely authentic, without any post-production additions, and conveys how it sounded during con-
