W ith the devel- opment of tourism and the hotel in- dustry, spoiled tourists can now get whatever they de- sire from a hotel: Egyptian cotton of incredible thick- ness, butlers who tell them bedtime stories, a selection of a dozen pillows to choose from for the best night’s sleep, and homemade cookies be- fore bedtime... They can book hotels by comparing incred- ibly luxurious spa centres or choosing them based on the number of Michelin stars their restaurants have... Still, many people have had their fill of this kind of dry luxury. Today travellers primarily want to be part of an interesting experience that they will long remember. Rather than pure five-star lux- ury, they are choosing accom- modation options that can of- fer them something new. Here we reveal the most interesting new hotels around the world and their original concepts. Without a doubt, if you choose one of these hotels you’re guaranteed to take home an experience that you’ll carefully deposit in your herbarium of memories. Happy travels and send us a postcard!

GOOD HOTEL Antigva, Gvatemala

GOOD HOTEL Antigua, Guatemala

O ČEMU SE RADI: Hotel koji vraća deo svog profita zajednici, ulažući sredstva u obrazova- nje, treninge i osnaživanje lokalne ekonomije.

WHERE IT’S LOCATED : Antigua is a colonial city sur- rounded by volcanoes. Recognisable for its baroque archi- tecture, it has been on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites since 1979. Excellent coffee is one of its trademarks. WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT: It is an establishment that re- turns part of its profits to the community, investing funds into education, skills training and the develop- ment of the local economy. It offers its guests the oppor- tunity of enjoying the superior experience of staying in a fine hotel whilst simultaneously giving them the oppor- tunity to help. The Good Group concept of hotel services was established in the Netherlands by Marten Dresen, who came up with the idea after travelling to Guatemala in 2006. He fell in love with the country at first sight and noticed un- believable differences between the level of development of tourism and the living conditions of the local population. Marten founded an NGO centre tasked with educating and providing skills training for unemployed locals. FOR WHOM IT’S INTENDED: Enlightened travellers. If they so desire, during their stay guests can volunteer at the Niños de Guatemala organisation.
