pose questions and set tasks for himself, de- velop himself and change, explore opaque fields of art. He must constantly surprise him- self with his own painting, says Đurović, who today supplements his artistic career, after 27 years with the status of a free artist, by working in academia. He assesses this as an advantage, thought he notes that a profes- sor who believes he creates artists is grave- ly mistaken. - I am a lecturer who has felt the life of a free artist in a free market, so with greater life and artistic experience I can offer the stu- dents a lot more. Both some of the shortcom- ingsandproblemsinmyworkthatIdidn’tre- solve independently during my studies, but rather later on, I can relate to my students in a timely manner. I know what I needed as a student, I understand them better and try to give them what they need to live from this work and think artistically. There are excellent young students who I support wholeheart- edly. I can’t stand disorder. Over the past ten years, a significant number of young artists have emerged from my class and are strid- ing seriously along the paths of art with their recognisable names. HERITAGE OF FANTASTIC FINE ART Željko Đurović is one of the artists brought together for the ‘Fantastic 6’ exhibition by art historian and art crit- ic Maja Živanović, who is the curator of this much-talked-about exhibition at Belgrade’s Heritage House. In the up- coming issues of Elevate we will pres- ent these artists, whose works are part of the heritage of figurative and fantas- tic fine arts in Serbia.

Odmah se zaljubio u pero i tuš. Sve drugo, kaže, ostaje na površini He immediately fell in love with the fountain pen and Indian ink. Everything else, he says, remains on the surface

postavlja sebi pitanja i zadatke, ra- zvija se i menja, istražuje nepregled- no likovno polje. I neke
