THREE QUESTIONS FOR CAPTAIN DRAGAN STARČEVIĆ What are your wishes as we enter 2021? - First and foremost I wish for us all to have good health, lots of happiness and positive energy, which will be essential for us to overcome all the challen- ges awaiting us in 2021. I also want the COVID-19 pandemic to end, both in our country and around the world, so that we can all be carefree again in tra- velling together to all of the beautiful destinations around the planet. What would you have liked someone to have told you at the beginning of your career as a pilot; somet- hing you didn‘t know then and today you do? - I‘ve had the great honour and immense pleasu- re of flying and collaborating with wonderful people and top professionals in their work since the very be- ginning of my career. I learnt a lot from them and re- ceived useful advice, but our job as pilots is specific in that we are always learning and discovering something new until the end of our careers. One of those things is that in our business, apart from good flying and know- how, it is also necessary to arm ourselves with patien- ce and calmness, because of things that we are una- ble to influence. Which is your favourite runway approach and why? - Apart from the approach to Nikola Tesla Airport, I most like the approach to the runway on the island of Skiathos, because it‘s professionally challenging for us pilots. It is among the shortest and narrowest runways in Europe, and that part of Greece is the most beautiful for me anyway, because of the wonderful beaches surroun- ded by dense pine forests.
Sa kojim željama ćete zakoračiti u 2021. godinu? – Pre svega, želim nam svima dobro zdravlje, mno- go sreće i pozitivne energije, koja će nam biti neophod- na da prebrodimo sve izazove koji nas očekuju u 2021. Takođe, želim i da se završi pandemija kovida-19 kod nas i u svetu, pa da svi zajedno ponovo bezbrižno putu- jemo ka svim prelepim destinacijama širom planete. Šta biste voleli da vam je neko rekao na početku pilotske karijere, što tada niste znali, a danas znate? – Imao sam veliku čast i neizmerno zadovoljstvo da od samog početka karijere letim i sarađujem sa divnim ljudima i vrhunskim profesionalcima u svom poslu. Od njih sam mnogo naučio i dobio korisne savete, ali naš pilotski posao je specifičan i po tome da do kraja kari- jere uvek nešto novo učimo i saznajemo. Jedna od tih stvari je da je u našem poslu, osim dobrog letenja i zna- nja, neophodno da se naoružamo strpljenjem i smire- nošću zbog stvari na koje ne možemo da utičemo. Prilaz kojoj pisti najviše volite i zbog čega? – Osim prilaza Aerodromu Nikola Tesla , najviše vo- lim prilaz pisti na ostrvu Skijatos jer je za nas pilote pro- fesionalno izazovan. Spada među najkraće i najuže pi- ste u Evropi, a inače, taj deo Grčke je za mene najlepši zbog predivnih plaža okruženih gustom borovom šu- mom.
