RITAM GRADA RHYTHM OF THE TOWN

REFLEKTOR TEATAR

REFLECTOR THEATRE

O ur plays reflect society and bring to light its dark sides”, state the manifesto of Reflector Theatre, which has managed, in a short period of time, to position itself on the scene as much more than just an independent youth theatre production. The themes touched on by the plays of Reflector Theatre, the questions they ask, the way they engage young theatre audi-

ences as their target group, but also ac- tive stakeholders – usually resound well beyond the space in which they are per- formed. The best examples of plays in that context are probably “Red: Suicide of the nation”, a painful story of violence against women based on genuine statistics, and “Men - a theatrical documentary about masculinity” and the way it is treated in our culture.

POZORIŠTE LEKTIRA

READING MATTER THEATRE

A s the name suggests, Le- ktira Theatre’s stage relays school reading matter, mak- ing it more interesting for new generations. The theatre’s founder is popular Serbian actor Ivan Jevtović, who is in this way continuing the educa- tional mission of his father, Vladimir Je- vtović, a professor at the Belgrade Fac- ulty of Dramatic Arts. Lektira Theatre has brought together a young creative and acting team that is constantly expand- ing, while the repertoire is created in co- operation with professors of literature – the first selected works were William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Goethe’s Faust, Petar Kočić’s Badger on Trial and Branislav Nušić’s People’s Deputy. Follow- ing performances, audience members are invited to express their opinions of the play, chat with the main characters or improvise certain scenes in coopera- tion with the actors, thereby raising the entire project to a new level.
