reconstructed Museum of Contemporary Art, which has reopened after a break of 10 years. Mayor Mali says that the idea of the city government is to open the entire city centre up to pedestrians, and for the centre to descend to the river, following the model of world metropolises. Likewise, inhabitants of Belgrade will also have a much larger area for walking, since construction has begun on a walkway that will connect Kalemegdan Fortress Park and the Sava Quayside, while the construction of a cable car connecting Kalemegdan and Ušće Park will commence next year. - In this way, the city centre will be fully available for walking and enjoyment by the rivers. Apart from that, next year will also see the start of the reconstruction of Old Sava Bridge, which will be converted into a pedestrian bridge, so Belgraders and guests of the city will be able to walk from the newly reconstructed Ušće Park to the Sava River promenade, and back to the city centre – said the mayor. He explained that he has been working for more than two years to transform the city centre into a pedestrian zone. The reconstruction of the Obilićev Venac area has been completed, and this area is now closed for traffic, while a new plateau was recently completed at the Crvena petla, and the streets of Vuk Karadžić, Zmaj Jovina and Čika Ljubina have also now been converted to pedestrian zones. Alongside the emergence of these new pedestrian zones, Belgraders have also witnessed the construction of new building façades in recent months. Nearly 200 buildings have received facelifts, and the plan is to continue at this pace in the coming years. - Belgrade has beautiful buildings that were unable to achieve their full expression, considering that they were mostly in a very poor condition. That’s why we decided to fix them up, one by one, and to give Belgrade a completely new look. When you today look at Karađorđeva Street, Kosančićev Venac and Kralja Milana Street, you can see rows of beautiful buildings, painted in bright colours. We are very proud of that – concluded the Belgrade Mayor. Nearly 200 buildings have received a facelift over the recent past, and the plan is to continue at this pace in the coming years

sustainable city , noted Danish architect and urban planner Jan Gehl, during a visit to the Serbian capital. His company, which specialises in organising public spaces, carried out a project for the reconstruction Belgrade’s Ušće Park. This 88-hectare area, located between Hotel Yugoslavia and Branko’s bridge, will receive a completely new look in the next two years. Interestingly, Gehl is one of the world’s top experts on public spaces. The first phase of reconstruction is already finished, and the first visitors to the newly renovated Museum of Contemporary Art had the opportunity, on 20th October, to visit a completely new part of the park. The “Art” trail has green islands, children’s playgrounds and seven sporting fields, a part of an athletic track, fountains, panels with Wi-Fi... This all forms part of the park, which is now available to Belgraders. - By year’s end we will work on the formation of a green maze – the first of its kind in Belgrade, as well as a musical

Zato smo reši- li da ih sređujemo, jednu po jednu, i da Beogradu damo potpuno nov izgled. playground that will feature sets of musical instruments. The new park will be divided into zones, which will be dedicated to art, music, science etc. This is the first time that work has been undertaken on such a large green area in Belgrade. This area was pretty, but completely disorganised and dysfunctional, so there were no visitors. The park remains a green oasis, but with much more content – noted Belgrade Mayor Siniša Mali. He added that the new park has allowed citizens to more easily access the
