KATEDRALA SVETOG STEFANA Još jedan gradski simbol, koji potiče iz 12. veka. Do najvišeg tornja Katedrale vode 343 stepenika, a na tornju se nalazi 13 zvona. Najpoznatije je ono koje zvoni samo za Novu godinu. Reč je o zvonu Pumerin, nastalom od pretopljenih topova turske vojske koja je 1638. po dru- gi put opsedala Beč. Ispred Katedrale tradicionalno se dočekuje Nova godina, tada zvono Pumerin zazvoni i začuju se prvi taktovi bečkog valcera. Inače, ovde su ra- dili mnogi kompozitori, među njima i Hajdn i Mocart.
ST. STEPHEN’S CATHEDRAL
Another symbol of the city, this one dating back to the 12 th century, is St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Leading to the top of the ca- thedral’s highest tower are 343 steps, where 13 bells are located. The best known among them only rings for New Year. It is the Pummerin (Boomer) Bell, which was made from melted cannons of the Turkish Ottoman Army, which laid siege to Vienna for the second time in 1638. The New Year is traditionally welcomed in front of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, when the Boomer Bell tolls and the first notes of the Viennese Waltz can be heard. Many compos- ers worked in this cathedral, including Josef Haydn and Mozart.
ŠENBRUN
Austria’s largest palace, Schönbrunn, is also among Vienna’s most visited sites, toured annually by more than three mil- lion people. However, what if we told you that it is possible to visit it on your own and spend the night there in a 1,798m 2 apartment, for a price of €699 per person? Seems expensive? Najveći dvorac Šenbrun jedno je od najposećenijih mesta u Beču. Godišnje ga obiđe vi- še od tri miliona ljudi. Ali šta ako bi- smo vam rekli da postoji mogućnost da ga posetite sami i prespavate u apartmanu od 1.798 metara kvadrat- nih za 699 evra po osobi? Zvuči skupo? Pa kako drugači- austrijski je formirati cenu za noć u nekadaš- njoj letnjoj rezidenciji carske dina- stije Habsburg, čuvene carice Sisi i cara Franca Jozefa? A ako ovakav provod nije po vašoj meri, barokni vrtovi oko Šenbruna su jednako ve- ličanstveni i – besplatni. Otvoreni za javnost od 1799, sa- drže lavirint, najstariji zoo-vrt na sve- tu, rimske ruševine, Kuću palmi sa botaničkom baštom i, naravno, Glo- rijet, koji je korišćen kao trpezarija i sala za prijeme, a danas je najveći kafić u Beču, sa čijeg vrha se grad vidi kao na dlanu.
