The city is best explored without a pre- determined plan, of course, provided you have the luxury of unlimited leisure time. The Viennese café is an institution that defies Western European standards. It is only in Vienna’s old cafés and taverns that you will be served a glass of water along- side your coffee, regardless of whether or not you ordered one.
