No- vembar je njihov mesec.

LONG-EARED OWL (ASIO OTUS)

If you find yourself in northern Serbia during the autumn and winter period, don’t be surprised when you hear hooting in a park or the yard of some house. That sound will remind you of a creaking swing, but in fact it belongs to the little long-eared owl, hidden in some old crow’s nest on the ter- ritory of Vojvodina. This type of owl weighs only about 250g and is best known for the feathered ears on the top of its head. Actu- ally, although it has peculiar and large ears for an owl, they have nothing to do with re- al ears, and rather serve to help distinguish females from males. The fact that this little long-eared owl has made its habitat in precisely one north- ern Serbian town – Kikinda – is a genuine wonder. BBC reporters also agree and even created an interesting feature story about this phenomenon. In their opinion, as well as the opinion of many domestic ornithol- ogists, this bird is attracted here by its main

Naime, pravi
