How was it possible in a period of just 45 years, in an area that contained on- ly desert, to construct the cosmopoli- tan metropolis that Abu Dhabi beca- me, with fast development and rapid urbanisation? This city is the politi- cal centre of the country, a hub of in- dustrial activity, but also a centre of culture and commerce, which is sti- ll being built and constantly develo- ping. Fountains adorn lush gardens and everything is impeccably clean. Every flower, tree or bush on the street has a sprinkler. Selo predstavlja re- pliku emiratske naseobine pre vre- mena nafte i ekonomskog procvata i sastoji se od različitih tipova ku- ćica i zanatskih radnji u kojima se obrađuju razni materijali, od bakra do stakla. Na licu mesta nasmejani majstori će kao čarolijom na ručnoj mašini napraviti glineni ćup ili na- duvati stakleni suvenir. U zaleđu tog sela prostire se pe- ščana plaža, a preko mora se pruža nestvarni prizor modernog grada, ve- lelepnih hotela i nebodera. Zapita- ćete se neminovno pred tim čudom kako je moguće tako brzo učiniti ta- ko mnogo. Kako je za 45 godina na mestu gde je bila pustinja uopšte bi- lo moguće napraviti kosmopolitsku metropolu, što je Abu Dabi uz brz razvoj i naglu urbanizaciju postao. Danas je taj grad političko središte zemlje, centar industrijske aktivno- sti, ali i kulture i trgovine, a i dalje se gradi i neprestano razvija.
