N
ikola Tesla Airport welcomed its five-millionth passenger at the
end of last year, setting the highest record in the 55-year history of this airport. The fast development of the national airline, Air Serbia, predominantly contributed to the success of the Airport. Sports journal- ist Nebojša Višković, who travelled to Lon- don, received from Air Serbia a prize of two return tickets to any European destination and an annual pass to the VIP Lounge at Nikola Tesla Airport. Reacting to this record, Serbian Prime Min- ister Ana Brnabić said that the exceptional results of the airport are down to the efforts of the current and previous governments, and also an indicator that Serbia is on the right track. - Belgrade is the only city in the world, apart from Zurich, to host the world’s greatest gathering of innovators, World Minds. Everything we do brings people to Serbia and promotes our country, which contrib- utes to the constant growth of passenger numbers and revenue – stressed PM Brnabić. Acting Director of Nikola Tesla Airport, Saša Vlaisavljević, said that the airport didn’t have the capacity to receive so many passengers four years ago, and that profit at the time totalled 125,000 euros. - This year we’re approaching between 28 and 29 million euros, passenger numbers are up 51 per cent and the value of shares in the Airport has increased four-fold - said Vlaisavljević, adding that these four years have been the best in the airport’s history. Belgrade Mayor Siniša Mali, who is also chair- man of the Air Serbia Supervisory Board, said that the successful operations of Niko- la Tesla Airport testify to huge changes for the better, both for Belgrade and for Serbia. - We have the fastest growing airport in the region, said Mali, who said that, as a Belgrader, he is very proud that Belgrade has the best airport, the best national air- line Air Serbia and an unprecedented num- ber of guests.
