Beč Bečki valcer na Uneskovoj listi

Vienna Viennese waltz on UNESCO list

For Austrians, the waltz is much more than just a dance. It is an integral part of the cultural life of Austria and represents an important element of Viennese and Austrian identity in an international context. That is why, at the end of 2017, with the commemoration of the 150 th anniversary of the premiere performance of Johann Strauss II’s waltz “The Blue Danube”, the Viennese Waltz was included on UNESCO’s list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Vienna’s famous balls otherwise open with the words “Alles Walzer!” (Everyone waltz!), and no Austrian wedding can pass without this dance. Milan Portrait from Belgrade exhibited in Italy An exhibition dedicated to the works of French painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, which runs at Milan’s Royal Palace until 18 th February, includes the painting “Portrait of a Young Women” from the collection of the Belgrade National Museum. Among the exhibits are more than 250 of Lautrec’s works, 35 of which are oils on canvas. His work “Portrait of a Young Woman” was bought for the National Museum in 1937 using money collected from museum entrance tickets. Prior to arriving in Belgrade, it was exhibited in 1931 at the Lautrec Retrospective Exhibition in Paris.

Za Austrijance valcer je mnogo više od igre. On je sastavni deo kulturnog života u Austriji i predstavlja značajan element bečkog i austrijskog identiteta u internacionalnom kontekstu.
