Wautoma, Wis. ORGANIZATION Center for Athletic Scheduling Stevens Point, Wis. TITLE Student Modeler
What I did: • Developed sports scheduling models using AMPL and Gurobi • Applied optimization techniques to balance travel, fairness, and site rotation constraints • Debugged infeasibility issues by analyzing presolve output and refining model structures • Generated and reviewed schedules for multiple college sports across different conferences • Communicated progress, constraints, and scheduling outcomes to supervisors and clients What I liked: I liked that my internship gave me the chance to apply mathematical modeling to real scheduling problems, which made the work both practical and meaningful. I also appreciated the challenge of troubleshooting complex constraints, since it pushed me to improve my problem-solving skills. Future Dream Job: Data scientist.
