AWARDS
Recognised for Outstanding Achievement
Patricia Warner (sister of Earl Warner) presenting lifetime achievement award to Patrick Foster
I t had been years since Patrick Michael Foster performed theatrically on stage. But he was back in the limelight during the Earl Warner Memorial Lecture last November, and it was like he never left. His abbreviated versions of Send in the Clowns and The Best of Times were his way of saying thanks via song to the theatre, those who have helped him along his decades-long journey, and to The University of the West Indies. Minutes earlier, Foster had been presented with the Earl Warner Trust 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award much to the delight of the scores of creatives, well- wishers, and others in attendance at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination. The event was organised by the Faculty of Culture, Creative and Performing Arts in collaboration with the charitable non-profit Earl Warner Trust (Barbados) . All who addressed the 14 November event spoke glowingly of Foster, a celebrated actor, director, producer, playwright, novelist, set and costume designer, and visual artist. He was born in Guyana, attended acting school in England, and has called Barbados home since 1976.
