From production to exhibition and back again, with a host of other interests thrown in and a lot of hard slogging away. He is fun to work with and a little bit magical too. We say thanks for his tutelage and inspiration to so many others – students, artists, and audiences alike.” Following the ceremony, the honouree said he was “absolutely floored” by the comparison to Sir Garfield. While he said he has been focused on directing in recent years and remains guided by his love of the arts, he said he would love to act again before he leaves this mortal world.

In remarks read by Lisa Cumberbatch on behalf of the widow of Earl Warner, Karen Ford-Warner, the honouree was described as witty and possessing a myriad of undeniable artistic talents that have been displayed over the decades. Head of the Department of Creative and Performing Arts Andrew Millington said the contributions of Foster and the late Warner offer guidance that could help young artists claim their identity and articulate what it means to practise their craft within a creative economy.
