Professor of Supramolecular Chemistry and Nanotechnology

in her field was among five Cave Hill academics joining the professorial ranks at The University of the West Indies. Dr. Stacey Blackman earned the accolade last October along with fellow scholars in electrochemistry, law, music, and medicine. Each of the newly appointed professors brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to their respective fields, contributing to the university’s reputation as a hub of intellectual growth. Their diverse expertise spans various disciplines, enriching the academic environment for both students and fellow faculty members.

Dr. Avril Williams

Professor of Inclusive Education and Disability Studies Dr. Stacey Blackman,

is a respected expert in electrochemistry who has consistently demonstrated a commitment to academic rigour and intellectual curiosity. Her research is tailored to the design and development of sensors for real-time field monitoring using self-recognising molecules that can be controlled at the atomic level. This work has offered invaluable knowledge advancements in the creation of new, smart electrode materials for sensors; novel electrochemical sensing; signalling techniques; wireless or bipolar electrochemiluminescence signal transduction methods; and biosensors for disease biomarkers, all having significant relevance to poorer countries where testing and analysis resources are minimal or nonexistent and oftentimes expensive and time-consuming.

a seasoned scholar in the field of special (needs) education, has been a cornerstone of the university’s academic landscape. An educator at the School of Education in the Faculty of Humanities and Education at Cave Hill, she has served as Discipline Coordinator of the BEd Special Education and MEd Inclusive Practices as well as the Coordinator of both the Associate Degree and Bachelor of Education programmes.
