Lewis Legacy: A Family’s Academic Odyssey

2023 marked a milestone for the Lewis family, with Rodney and his son Jabari walking the same graduation stage at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill. This shared triumph followed daughter Adiella’s attainment of an MSc the previous year, solidifying their legacy as proud alumni of The UWI. Rodney’s academic journey led him to The St. Michael’s School and later Barbados Community College , where he excelled in chemistry, biology, and mathematics. He then pursued natural sciences at Cave Hill. Throughout the years, Rodney expanded his knowledge with Information Technology certifications from various institutions, including The UWI and University of Illinois . His journey resulted in the award of a Bachelor’s degree in Management in 2005, and a Master’s in E-Governance for Small Island

Developing States last year, after he had returned to Cave Hill in 2022. What sets the Lewis family apart is not just their academic prowess but the remarkable parallel journey of father and children. Rodney, reflecting on walking the same graduation stage with Jabari, revealed: “I honestly just wanted to share the moment with Jabari and used that as my driving force to complete as many courses as I feasibly could.” This shared accomplishment deepened the father-son bond, instilling in them the belief that no goal is impossible.
