Robert Bender in Central America T HE many friends o f our former Spanish worker, Robert H. Bender, will rejoice in the good news that has just reached us from San Salvador, where he has taken up his new work with the Central American' Mission. “ It is scarcely two months,” writes Mr. Bender, “ since we returned to our field o f labor, for the fourth time, after an absence of thirteen years. “ W e never felt happier in

A Worth While Investment W E recently printed a letter received from Mr. Kas- parian (shown at the left in the picture group), in which he vividly described his experience among Arabs, with whom he was held captive for three years. The three young men shown in the group are diligently engaged in the study o f God’s Word through the Correspondence School Department of the Institute. Financially, they have

not even sufficient to pay the small enrollment fee o f one of the courses, but this fee has been met by interested friends in this country contributing to a Free Course Fund. Does it pay to make such investments ? Read the following excerpts from the letter written by Mr. Kasparian upon his receipt of a Corres pondence Course. “ Dear Teacher in Him, “ Greetings in Him : “ I gladly received the lessons (studies in the Gospels, Course 2) and T he K ing ’ s B usiness , and was very, very glad indeed. I was much blest by the contents o f T he K ing ’ s B usiness , and the lessons also are a blessing for me. I sent you the examination o f the first lesson. I hope you received it.. I was very glad to become one of your stu dents. “ Now, here I am, working as a worker in God’s Word among the Armenian people, in a week about 40S times I lead meetings, and God blesses His Word. I have a Sunday school class. Attendant children are about 30. Last week came an! invi tation from a city, its name is Yar- ablous, at the shore of the Eu phrates River. It is station o f the railway o f Baghdad and there is the big bridge across the river made by German. There are about or more than 1000. Armenian people there. There are no workers. There is a preacher in protestant church, but yet he is unconverted.

our lives than we did on that day, when we set foot once more on the land of our adop tion. A fter being received by a delegation o f our dear believ ers, at the port, we entered the waiting .auto, and were taken to the capital, San Salvador, ar riving at the Chapel at 8 P. M. It was beautifully decorated with palms and flowers and cur tains. Upon entering the Chapel, the entire congregation o f about 300, arose, and greeted us with a song of welcome. Following this, the native pastor welcomed us with a few well chosen re marks, after which representa tions from the Elders, young people, and children, greeted me with words of welcome from their respective groups. Song after song was rendered by the young people’s chorus, in cele bration of the occasion, after which I responded with a short address. A t the close o f this service of welcome we were served with ice cream and cake, and then all came forward and greeted me with the accustomed embrace, many with tears of re joicing. “ The following two days were taken up with conferences with the native workers, who

had come in to welcome me, and within a week we were off on a tour, visiting seven of our larger centers, where we had large gatherings, believers from all the surround ing towns coming together in these larger places. “ It was wonderful to behold what great things the Lord had done during my absence and how He had given the increase in nearly every place. Everywhere we met be lievers who told us that they had heard us preach the Gospel years ago, that the seed o f God’s Word had fallen on good ground, and that they were now believers. My visit was very productive, resulting in the return o f many backsliders, and also in the churches being encouraged and edified, and sinners won to the Lord, for all of which we.

“Yarablous is 3 hours by automobile from Aleppo and there are Armenian villages around it. I visit from time to time that place. Also pray for us, that God may use us in His work. “ The second examination, if God willing, I will send next week. Excuse me for the ink spot, which was’ fallen upon the letter after while I was writing, and excuse me for thé expression mistakes. “With many great thanks, your student in Him, “ Khachair Kasparian.” The Free Fund has made possible the enrollment of many others from across the waters, as well as many in our own country who have not the necessary means for taking a course. Perhaps some of our readers may be impressed with the definiteness of the opportunity to invest in eternal securities.
