Hebrews, an extremely helpful exposi tion for all Bible students. Dr. Mantle has long been known for his gift for mak ing ordinarily difficult passages clear, as well as for his devotional style in writing. It should be said that these Bible readings were originally published in England twenty-five years ago, but for some time have been out of print. Dr. Wilbur Chap man once made the statement that he had read the book through ten times, which indicates much as to the value o f the material. Dr. Mantle has added some valuable features to the new edition, which will make it more useful for Bible teach ers. Considering the size o f this book, we deem the price, $1.25, very reasonable.—B. Winston Simplified Dictionary There seems to be continued improve ment in the Winston Dictionaries, and the new edition now being advertised, is certainly characterized by originality and reveals the painstaking care that the publishers have taken in its preparation. W e are glad to recommend it for Chris tian workers, who will find it most con venient because of its handy size, and because it holds to the elements of sim plicity, accuracy and completeness. It de fines 100,000 words and phrases. The sec tion on Biblical names is especially valu able. The etymology of words is an other helpful feature. There are 3,000 illustrations and 32 full-page maps in ¡color. It is. printed on Bible paper and .substantially bound. The list price is $5.00, including thumb index. — o — A Study of the Book of Revelation B y A lexander H ardie This is a very interesting study o f the book o f Revelation by a devout student who is absolutely loyal to the Word of God and fundamental in his attitude to ward Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. The interpretation given o f this dif ficult book o f the Bible is what is known as the historical interpretation, and while we do not at all agree with the author’s conclusion regarding the important ques tion o f our Lord’s coming as being post- millennial, yet we recognize there are a great many very interesting facts brought together in the book. What he has to say about Rome, the world unitarianism movement, materialism and heathenism, or idolatry, is very suggestive and worthy of earnest thought. While we can hot agree with all o f his; interpretations we can commend his fine loyalty to the Word o f God and to Jesus Christ. Times Mirror Publishers, Los Angeles. —J. M. M.
