FROM FOUNDING TO FUTURE In October 1973, Frenchman’s Creek, Ltd. developer Karl Landell acquired 1,440 acres of pristine Florida land with a bold vision: to create a world-class community featuring homes, golf, a marina, and spaces that foster connection. Work began quickly, and within just a few years, two golf courses and a 163-slip marina became the cornerstone of the vibrant community to come. By 1976, the MacArthur Foundation acquired the property, and in 1985, Haft-Gaines Associates took ownership, setting the stage for what would become the Frenchman’s Creek we know and cherish today. Homes began rising along Verde, Rivoli, and LeHavre, and in 1991, the proud moment of turnover gave our membership full ownership of the Club and its facilities, including our Beach Club, which had been opened in 1988, ensuring that members would forever enjoy the unparalleled combination of a country club and a seaside retreat. Since then, Frenchman’s Creek has continued to evolve, always balancing respect for its storied past with an eye toward the future. Today, we stand at another transformative moment in our community’s history. The new Frenchman’s Creek Clubhouse is a symbol of innovation, progress, and belonging, where we will be positioned to deliver industry-leading hospitality for decades to come.
