EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING SESSION

Executive Functioning for High School

As students progress through high school, teachers and parents work together to build sufficient executive functioning abilities for independent living. Meeting the demands of high school requires integration of a wide variety of executive functioning skills such as keeping track of multiple plans and goals simultaneously, using tools to manage time more effectively, prioritizing conflicting demands, inhibiting impulsive behaviors, sustaining attention in the face of many distractions, managing emotions in healthy ways, and being aware of how one’s own behavior impacts outcomes. In this group, students will learn and then apply developmentally appropriate executive functioning strategies and tools to the areas they are struggling in most.

Gained skills and more about the group: Self-reflection, strategy selection, and assessing progress toward goals Managing time through planning and prioritizing effectively Organizing ideas for class notes and essays Studying strategically and taking tests with confidence Increasing productivity during homework time including managing attention and defeating procrastination 5 Sessions
