Precious Moments recently announced an exciting partnership with a remarkable organization – Feed the Children. This non-profit organization operates with a mission to provide hope and resources for those without life’s essentials in order to create a world where no child goes to bed hungry. Shehnaz Safiuddin, Vice President of Marketing for Precious Moments explains why it’s such a natural alliance. “Precious Moments’ foundation was built upon beautiful artwork created by Samuel J. Butcher, all of which highlight the sweetness and innocence of children, and the hope that lies within each of us. Feed the Children takes this hope one step further because they know that a well-fed child can then focus on learning and development, ultimately breaking the cycle of poverty and giving all children a chance for a brighter future.”
It’s easy to see why Precious Moments and Feed the Children make a perfect partnership. In addition to a long history of giving back to the community, Precious Moments’ stated mission is to “make the world a better place by helping others share the gift of love.” Feed the Children was founded in 1979 with a focus on ending childhood hunger. Their vision is to “create a world where no child goes to bed hungry.” Two companies, both nearly 40 years strong, touching lives on a global level, and focused on making the world a better place.
Shehnaz tells us how Precious Moments’ involvement is making a difference, “We are calling upon all our key constituents – employees, vendors, partners, in addition to our consumers and fans, to support our donation efforts. We are kicking off our partnership with an employee donation campaign encouraging employees to make donations via payroll deduction. We are sending letters to our key vendors asking them to help us support this noble cause. We’re hopeful our always generous customers will join us in our efforts as well.” There are many ways Club Members and collectors can help. The easiest way to contribute is through a monetary donation. A donation line will be included on the checkout page of PreciousMoments.com. Even the smallest donation is appreciated! Club Members can also consider sponsoring a child. As a sponsor, you’ll help rescue a boy or girl from the enemies of childhood – hunger, disease, and poverty. You can also visit the Feed the Children website (feedthechildren.org) to purchase online gifts that benefit children in need. These gifts include backpacks with school supplies and food boxes. We all know poverty leads to hunger, but it also works the other way. Hunger can keep people in poverty because when they don’t eat, they can get too sick and too weak to learn, study, or work. Poverty and hunger are woven together. By focusing on the problem of childhood hunger we can simultaneously address the issues of poverty.
