HANDICAP COMMITTEE

Accurate posting is essential to fair and enjoyable competition at Tonto Verde, so the Handicap Committee will periodically review a ForeTees report showing rounds without posted scores. This report will cover the most recent four ‑ week period (with a three ‑ day grace period for posting) and will list players with three or more missed postings. Periodically, the Committee may contact players with a higher number of missed postings in a supportive, educational manner to help resolve questions about keeping Handicap Indexes current. Members are encouraged to monitor their own Peer Review Report, which displays missed postings over their last 20 rounds, and to strive to post 100 percent of postable scores. Recognizing that occasional oversights happen, a posting percentage of 80 percent or higher is considered acceptable, with higher percentages giving everyone more confidence that handicaps are fair for all.

To help you avoid missed postings, the Committee has prepared short guidance on common situations—such as canceling when you cannot play, updating 9 ‑ vs 18 ‑ hole bookings, practice rounds and solo rounds, playing at multiple clubs, partial rounds, posting on the correct day, competition rounds, unfinished holes (USGA Rule 3.3), group tee times, changing tees, and opting out of a handicap—which is available in the following links for further reading: “Rule 3.3 video and links to situations and remedies here.” If you have questions about posting or your reports, please email the Handicap Committee at handicapcommittee@tontogolf.com so that together we can maintain accurate handicaps and preserve a culture of fair, friendly competition for all members.
