In Conclusion
What Is at Stake?
So, after building our case for better payment terms, enforceable contracts, improved client relationships, and the influence of them all on DEI and the future of the AEC industry, what really is at stake? We are advocating for a culture shift, one that acknowledges our value as an industry and as design professionals, and rejects our services being treated as commodities. We want this guide to reach as many architects, engineers, project managers, firm leaders, marketing/administrator teams – and even those on the client side – as possible, so that we can see real change across the industry. Change that delivers value. We all know “cash is king;” we want to be able to invest in our people and the programs they need to thrive. We can implement new practices or better practices in our firms, utilizing some of the recommendations complied herein, so that there is the financial solvency needed to invest in the initiatives our firms are lacking. There is also plenty of opportunity to blaze new trails for the industry as whole. Growth and change is necessary to survive, and doing so strategically and successfully is how we thrive.
We hope this resource serves you well, so that future negotiations may avoid this crisis.
Thank you, Emily Havelka & Laura Morton
