ABOUT FATIMA BINT MUBARAK LADIES SPORTS ACADEMY: MOVING FORWARD

About FBMA establishment The Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy (FBMA) is a government entity of the emirate of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Established in october 2010, the academy is headed by its chairwoman, H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazaa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and is dedicated to promoting and facilitating women’s sports in the UAE. Under the generous patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation “Mother of the Nation”, the FBMA strives to make sports an element of daily life for UAE national women of all age, background, and physical condition; to encourage Emirati women to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle, and to further establish the values of sportsmanship in the public consciousness of the UAE. The FBMA serves this significant mission by hosting a number of local, regional and international sports events; facilitating community activities; managing and developing local talent and through its education and research work. In fulfilling its mandate, FBMA partners with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and other relevant government entities and sports federations. Vision Creating a healthy lifestyle and a bright sporting future for ambitious generations of society in Abu Dhabi, and bringing women’s sports to the top. Mission We are working to find a special place for women’s sports in Abu Dhabi, by working to focus on the role of sport in society, focusing on aspects of education and sports training, nurturing talent, holding various events and sports tournaments, and competing through our qualified teams.

Pillars of the work of the academy: 1- Sports Tournaments and Competitions The academy aims to place Abu Dhabi on the global map for women’s sports by hosting a number of national and international competitions, competitions and tournaments, the most important of which is the “Fatima Bint Mubarak International Show Jumping Cup”. 2- Community Participation Providing daily, weekly and monthly activities to all members of society, including open and free training in various sports such as: Equestrian, Basketball, Volleyball. 3- Education and Research Hosting a series of monthly seminars and annual forums and conducting a number of research projects and case studies that examine the current landscape of women’s sports in the United Arab Emirates in general and Abu Dhabi in particular. 4- Sports Conferences Building a global base by organizing the “International Conference On Sports For Women (ICSW)”, which is held every two years to promote discussions about the status of women’s sports in the United Arab Emirates and all over the world, in addition to the active participation of the academy in various conferences and sports gatherings
