Lutheran SeniorLife Grows Housing, Lifestyle and Advocacy Efforts
L utheran SeniorLife is continuing to evolve and grow by repositioning itself to meet the changing needs of older adults in western Pennsylvania with a forward-looking blend of housing, lifestyle, and advocacy—guided by the philosophy of AgingIN, which affirms that aging is living, and living is aging. From opening Benbrook Place, a new personal care facility in Butler, to expanding lifestyle-focused patio home living at Passavant Community, to advancing technology at the Visiting Nurses Association through anniversary- driven grant support, the organization is redefining how it empowers individuals to thrive with dignity, independence, and choice. At the same time, Lutheran SeniorLife is raising its voice in Washington to advocate for Medicaid-eligible participants and to remove barriers that delay critical care. This year, Lutheran SeniorLife celebrated the opening of Benbrook Place in Butler, a personal care facility designed to provide compassionate, person-
hosted an Open House where guests toured spacious common areas and private rooms, sampled chef- prepared food, and experienced the welcoming design focused on comfort, connection, and choice— hallmarks of our person-centered vision for creating communities that truly empower cultures of care. “Benbrook Place provides a welcoming, supportive environment for older adults who need personal care, while also creating a clear pathway to the full continuum of care at Passavant Community,” said Laura Roy, Executive Director of Passavant Community. “Here, residents are encouraged to pursue their own routines and interests, with the reassurance that additional support is available as their needs change.” At the same time, Passavant Community in Zelienople is expanding residential options with the construction of new patio homes, offering older adults not only independence but also opportunities
