This course is intended to broaden students' familiarity with poetry of different types, places, and eras, and thereby increase their enjoyment of a great world of poetry. Students will be encouraged to bring poems they like, poems they find confusing, and poems they want to share with others. Unlike literature that is read primarily for information, poetry demands that the reader sit still with it, question it, and respond
no mathematical complexities. Class participation via questions and comments are most welcome and all that is required is an open and inquiring mind. Val Satko is a semi-retired architect with seventeen years of experience teaching and hosting courses in the sciences at OLLI. While most of these have been in the area of Astronomy and Cosmology this course represents a departure into the realms of Astronomy, Quantum Mechanics, Technology and Physical Speculation on an unprecedented scale from the very beginning of time and space itself and on into the far distant future.
