• Each prescriber must now complete three hours of education on best practices for prescribing of CDS, drug diversion, addiction treatment, and chronic pain treatment. • The required education must be completed before license renewal in 2019 or upon initial licensure. • This new education requirement is included in the credit hours already required by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME), not in addition to the existing requirements.

QUALIFYING CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS:
Any program, course, seminar, or other activity offering AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) ™ shall be deemed approved for purposes of satisfying the continuing medical education requirements under this Subchapter, if sponsored or offered by:
• An organization or entity accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)
• A member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties or a specialty board
• The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)
• The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)
• The American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
• An organization or entity accredited by the Louisiana State Medical Society or any other ACCME recognized state medical society
