The product comes in a choice of 125L, 250L, 2 x 250L, or a 500L unit. There’s also a wall mounted version that can use the original oil barrel, allowing an entirely sealed unit. Kevin says, “When Warwick first came to see me he brought a set of drawings and said he needed to get these components – pipework, assemblies etc – into the unit. Enluse had an initial prototype and they needed our knowledge to make it more cost-effective. The end result was a much-improved product that used all CE approved components, meaning the whole unit now has CE approval.” The project is centred on Cambridge, where Warwick Evans Design is based. A local company called Etils makes the plastic moulding sections for the oil storage section. Another local company, PCML Engineering makes the front covers and the mounting plates inside the unit themselves, while Pirtek Cambridge supplies and fits all the hoses carrying the oil to be cleaned. All of the components come to Pirtek’s depot, where they are built by Kevin and his team.
product. If the bearing is constantly operating in clean oil it can last forever.
The result was LustorSystem, an oil filtration and storage system that reduces costs in the same way as Pirtek’s Total Hydraulic Management programmes, cutting downtime and reducing catastrophic failure of parts. The LustorSystem is a sealed unit that has a desiccant filter for water protection and uses a 10 or 5-micron filter for particulates, producing pure, clean oil and ensuring that when it goes into a clean environment, it stays clean. The oil is delivered in a drum and decanted into the sealed unit, where it is filtered. It can either be continuously cycled through the machine for maximum filtration or simply stored in the sealed unit ready either to be hardlined directly into a system or dispensed into an Oil Safe can.
Kevin has many years’ experience as a hydraulic engineer. “This was a new
In the absence of a CE certified product able to filter oil, store it in a clean environment and all at a reasonable price, there was clearly a market opportunity. Enluse, a small company based in The Netherlands and Belgium, is Europe’s largest importer of the Oil Safe dispensing system. Its Executive Manager Ian Knight and his Designer Warwick Evans, approached Kevin Gabriel of Pirtek Cambridge about three years ago to help construct their system to filter oil and store it in an uncontaminated environment. Kevin’s vast experience in hydraulics has helped ensure the system’s quality.
