Dear Colleagues

As we approach the midpoint of the year, it is with great pleasure that I introduce the latest edition of our hotel newsletter. Over the past months, we have achieved significant milestones that reflect the dedication and commitment of each and every one of you.

I am delighted to share that our recent food safety audit yielded an impressive score of 93.1%, a testament to our culinary teams' commitment to excellence in all facets of their operations. Additionally, the successful completion of our security audit, including the TTX exercise, underscores our Security team dedication to ensuring the safety and security of our guests and colleagues. Furthermore, I am thrilled to announce that we have made substantial progress towards our financial goals, with a promising outlook of exceeding $1,000,000 in EBITDA by the end of June. This achievement speaks highly about your hard work and dedication to driving success in every aspect of our business. Our commitment to continuous improvement is also evident in our ongoing product improvement program. By the end of June, we will have completed the AC refurbishment for two floors, laying the foundation for further enhancements in the coming months. With plans to upgrade the TV, mattress, wallpaper in corridors, desk chairs, and lamps on three floors, we are dedicated to enhancing the overall guest experience and maintaining our position as a premier destination. I want to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you for your invaluable contributions to these achievements. Your hard work, dedication, and unwavering integrity have been instrumental in our success, and I am immensely proud to lead such a talented and dedicated team. While we celebrate these accomplishments, let us also view them as a catalyst for further growth and improvement. While we have made strides in many areas, there is still work to be done, particularly in improving guest satisfaction. I am confident that, with our collective effort and commitment to excellence, we can exceed our targets and set new standards of excellence in hospitality.

Twelve of our colleagues participated in the Shangri- La orientation program, immersing themselves in the essence of Shangri-La culture, beliefs and the invaluable teaching of our brand value.

Learning our culture and values is not about understanding rules it’s about embracing a way of life.

It’s about respect, integrity, innovation and teamwork.

Our colleagues embarked on a journey to dive into the heart of Shangri-La culture. Through an immersive learning session, they discovered our shared values that define us and embraced the code of behaviors we live by.

As part of our Continuous Wellbeing Focus, we organized a seminar for our colleagues on "Investment & Personal Finance Management: Understanding Credit Cards" in partnership with Faris & Co on April 20, 2024.

The session provided valuable insights and offered our colleagues the opportunity to ask questions related to personal finance management.

This initiative underscores our commitment to supporting the holistic wellness of our team members, emphasizing not only their professional development but also their personal growth and financial well-being.

With our comprehensive Lift Operating Training Program, participants receive thorough instruction on:

• Safety Protocols • Hazard Awareness • Best Practices for Accident Prevention

Learning industry-leading practices to minimize risks and enhance workplace safety. This program is designed to equip the colleagues with the knowledge and skills they need to maintain a safe working environment, ensuring the well-being of everyone involved.

“DOGOOD” is one of the behaviors that we live by.

In this blessed month of Ramadan, the team hosted an Iftar for the kids, caretakes and admin staff of Fiyavathi Orphanage on 1st April 2024 at the hotel. As this is the month of love and giving, it is our own team who personally took care of them, from their arrival, to assisting them to the venue, serving healthy foods, clearing their tables, till their departure from thehotel.

It was indeed a successful event as they felt how we value them and felt the love from all of us.

At Shangri-La, it’s our mission to host people to the colorful joys of life in a sustainable manner.

This year, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from Majeediyya School for an engaging educational session focused on raising awareness about water conservation, all in celebration of International Mother Earth Day. The students enjoyed a fun day with group activities, engaging learning sessions, and a tour conducted by the hotel. With over 50 years of experience in Asia, our endeavors exemplify our commitment to making positive contributions to our communities and the environment.

We had the pleasure of hosting a guest who had been staying with us since 2022 and with her frequent visits to the capital city of the Maldives, she found a true home at JEN Maldives Malé by Shangri-La. After 44 delightful stays, she visited the hotel for the last time in April 2024. To honor her loyalty and friendship, the management team organized a heartfelt farewell at the Azur Restaurant, embodying Shangri-La's core value of "obsess over customer experience’’ . We surprised her with a 'bon voyage' cake and local souvenirs to carry back home, as a memoir from her time in the Maldives. Additionally, the team presented her with a beautifully framed photo capturing the sunset hour at the hotel's Rooftop Infinity Pool. This special keepsake, adorned with handwritten farewell messages from the JEN Maldives team, was a gift she truly appreciated. The guest was overjoyed and thanked the team for their unwavering dedication and for consistently making her feel truly at home, even though she was miles away from her own.

Love filled the atmosphere this Valentine's Day as our team embarked on a mission of heartfelt gestures. With delicate roses in hand, we walked the corridors of the hotel, each bloom carrying the essence of appreciation and affection for our colleagues. In a world often bustling with deadlines and tasks, we believe in seizing every opportunity to pause and celebrate the human spirit. For us, Valentine's Day wasn't solely about romantic love, but rather a reminder to embrace the bonds of friendship, camaraderie, and mutual respect that bind us as a team.

Here's a highlight from our recent team-building activity at "Kuda Giri." This event was a testament to our ongoing commitment to fostering teamwork and collaboration. By continuously exploring new ways to promote these values, we ensure that our team remains cohesive, motivated, and forward-thinking.

After a long week, our Thursday morning meetings keep the good vibes rolling with an array of fun-filled games and activities. These sessions are designed to foster team spirit and rejuvenate our minds.
