I MET MY WIFE WHEN I WAS JUST 9 YEARS OLD!
THE STORY OF HOW WE FELL IN LOVE
So, with a smile, I asked, ‘Where is your new truck going to take me to dinner?’
Since February is the month of romance and couples worldwide celebrate Valentine’s Day together, I wanted to share the story of how my wife and I met. And the thing is that we didn’t really “meet” — I’ve known my wife practically my whole life! We met when I was probably around 9 or 10 years old because our moms attended the same church and sat in the same pew together when they went. Our families became close, and she even became good friends with my youngest sister, who is about five years younger than me. But at the time, we were just kids, and to her, I was probably the nerdy older brother of one of her friends. There was no romance, either; we were just kids whose family members were friends. I even have a photo of my wife and me with my sister from when I was about 16 years old, and she was 11, just smiling as one of our parents snapped the camera. The photo hangs on our fridge now. But around this time, when I entered my late teens and early 20s, we both left church for a while to focus on work and school. I was traveling around the country for my storm cleanup business, and my wife left to focus on her studies. Eventually, when I was 26, I finally made my way back home — and to church. Ironically, my wife also made her way back to our church that year, and when I walked into a Bible class and saw her, now 21, I did notice her.
So, the next week at Bible class, I made sure to sit in her seat before she got there. That way, when she arrived and saw me in her

chair, we had a reason to start talking. If you’re wondering, my plan worked, and we’d talk during Bible class whenever we would see each other.
a month or so into our relationship, the city of Springfield, Missouri, was hit by an ice storm, and I had to fly there and spend weeks helping clean
it up. It was difficult to be apart, especially in a new relationship when we wanted to share as much time together as possible. But we managed long distances, and after I returned, we spent that time together as we dated for about two years before getting married. Since then, we’ve been through so much together. We’ve moved, returned home, and had three wonderful children. We also still attend that same church we met in those years ago. Sometimes, you just don’t know what God will do for you. At a time when I had my head down trying to be a good person, he introduced me to my wife. So this month, take some time to remember the
A few weeks later, in a Wednesday night Bible class, my wife couldn’t stop telling me all about her new truck. So, with a smile, I asked, “Where is your new truck going to take me to dinner?” That worked, and our date was at a Bahama Breeze near our church, where we talked and got to know each other. Honestly, the date was wonderful, but I was young and quickly made a foolish mistake: I didn’t call her for a week after our date. She was pretty upset by this, especially since our date went so well and her cousins, who she was living with at the time, told her it was definitely a sign that I wasn’t interested — but this couldn’t be further from the truth. In all honesty, I was just really busy. I had just purchased the home we ended up living in, and I was spending a lot of time renovating it. I was also still traveling for work and spending much of my time in another state. None of these things are excuses, but the absence of a call was certainly not because of a lack of interest.

It can be a lot of work to coordinate your outdoor remodeling project. Jumping between several different teams and specialties, plus inconsistent pricing, can cost you hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars. So, why not just choose one company, one professional designer, and one team? While some landscapers claim to save you money, you might not save money at all. We wanted to offer a completely streamlined

Hello, my new newsletter friends; this is Juliet! You might have already heard of me, but I’m Gavin and Ella’s little sister! I’m 3 years old now, and I decided that I should also start sharing what I’ve been up to because I’m pretty busy, too.
make sure my baby dolls are safely buckled in. What keeps me busy the most is making sure all of my baby dolls and their things are in order because I have a special way I like to keep everything organized. Sometimes, my dad puts my stuff out of order, and I have to tell him where it goes, but that’s okay because he’s my Daddy-loo. In the evenings, when my dolls are already tucked into their bed, I talk to Tommy, my pet betta fish. He can really hear me, too! Sometimes, I’ll ask him about something on my mind or tell him all about my day, and he swims around like crazy in his tank to let me know he hears me.
If you think a 3-year-old doesn’t have much to do, I would tell you, “Well, I have plenty!” First, I spend a lot of time with my baby dolls, and caring for them is a full- time job. They even have their own room to live in. Technically, this is the bathroom in our playroom, but I have decided my dolls should live in there, so it’s
Then, usually, my dad comes in and rocks me in my rocking chair, and I have him sing me about six songs before I go to sleep — just how I like it!
That’s all I have for now, newsletter friends. It’s time to check on my baby dolls! -Juliet Burns

Valentine’s Day demands most of the attention in February. This holiday is designated for couples to share their love and do things they greatly enjoy together. While this usually consists of dinner dates, a movie, and possibly even some dancing, some parents have a difficult time getting away. Maybe they can’t find a babysitter, or one of the kids is ill, causing them to cancel plans. You might think there’s no point in celebrating the holiday if you can’t do so with just your significant other, but you can turn Valentine’s Day into a family-friendly event. Here are a few activities to try if you’re spending Valentine’s with the kids this February.

Don’t forget to include a special dessert; you can even make mocktails to amp up the fun. Finish the night with a movie. Valentine’s Day is often one of the busiest nights of the year for movie theaters, but you don’t have to go out to enjoy a movie during the holiday. Head to your favorite streaming service and find some family-friendly romantic comedies to watch together. “The Princess Diaries,” “Lady and the Tramp,” and “Gnomeo and Juliet” are all great options.
