Main duties and responsibilities

Delivering Strategy • Using an evidence-based approach to

Data Protection • Adhere to regulations and procedures relating to data protection and information security. Personal Development/ Performance • Demonstrate commitment to continuing Personal/Professional Development and to engage with appropriate development activities. Duties must be carried out in accordance with relevant Equality and Diversity legislation and University policies/ procedures. • Take reasonable care of the Health and Safety of yourself and that of any other person who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work. • Co-operate with the University in ensuring as far as is necessary, that Statutory Requirement, Codes of Practice, University Policies and Schools/ Departmental health and safety arrangements are complied with. • Adhere to the University’s environmental policy and procedures and seek to promote environmental sustainability within area of responsibility.

• Work closely with the Students’ Union and Keele Postgraduate Association to ensure that the student voice and student experience supports the development of services and interventions • Proactively seek, analyse, and use student feedback from service users and others to continually develop the service • With the Head of Careers & Employability, appraise the future approach and targeted delivery of high-quality careers advice and guidance and the use of formal ’award’ programmes to enable us to support students to recognise and gain value of a range of pursuits beyond their course, in enhancing their employability • Apply knowledge of future-looking approaches to employability to deliver change and intervention at the level of specific degree programmes • Appraisal (and as appropriate) use of third-party commercial support/partners for the delivery of specific activities and objectives linked to strategy and delivery Team Work • Work as an active part of the Student Services and Success Senior Team, contributing to broader Student Services initiatives and activities • Work across the University to negotiate and influence change to enable student successful outcomes for our students

• Work with Global Student Recruitment and Admissions to ensure that the careers provision is part of the Keele offer to prospective students and for the purposes of Access and Participation Plan initiatives • Working as part of an institutional engagement team to develop an employer engagement programme which combines existing approaches with more ‘scalable’ initiatives to drive opportunities for work-based experience while studying in a range of employment, volunteering or wider settings in partnership with schools, local employers (including science part companies) and Students Union. • Work with Alumni and Supporter Engagement to utilise alumni and wider supporters to deliver the employability strategy, and support post- graduation careers advise • Work with the Director of Engagement and Partnerships to consider how the institution positions its strategy (and delivery against it ) with respect to local graduate retention • Deputise for the Director of Student Services and Success internally and externally when required. Supervision/Staffing (if applicable) • To lead and manage staff within the service areas, including recruitment, performance and development. • Responsible for effective budget monitoring of staff and non-staff costs, undertaking regular resource planning, review and forecasting in order to ensure delivery to budget.

working with others to develop and deliver an employability strategy, with continuous use of new Graduate Outcomes, LEO data and peer benchmarking to drive the basis for specific interventions. • Action the strategy to deliver against stretching KPI measures and OfS Graduate Outcome targets • Deliver an institutional approach to placements as part of the degree programmes and work with specific schools to introduce and implement change to programmes where required • Champion the role of enterprise support to Keele students and graduates and ensure that government policy in this regard informs how the University considers its delivery and outcomes for students Leadership & Service Delivery • Targeting interventions at degree programme level in partnership with Schools, such that each Schools has a clear ‘stated’ approach to graduate level employability • Ensure targeted interventions are evidence based and evaluated to enable further adaptations and improvements • Ensure that the targeted approach considers Keele’s diverse student body, and provide relevant strategic drive for the University’s Access and Participation Plan, increasing the diversity and inclusion of those ‘employment prepared’
