GROUP MANAGING DIRECTOR MARK LOHAN TALKS ABOUT THE NEW STRATEGIC PLAN FOR RECENTLY ACQUIRED BRANDS HEAT MERCHANTS, TUBS & TILES AND HEVAC LTD, AND WHAT IS IN STORE FOR WOSLELEY UK IN IRELAND…

From product suppliers to solution providers

B ack in July, plumbing, heating, and cooling merchants Wolseley UK acquired Heat Merchants, Tubs & Tiles and Hevac Ltd in Ireland. Mark Lohan was appointed Group Managing Director for Ireland to oversee the three businesses, which combined have revenues of circa €150 million and employ over 400 people in 47 locations across the ROI. Having worked for Wolseley previously and most recently as MD for Brooks Timber & Building Supplies Ltd, Mark has over 40 years of experience in the Irish market, specifically in supply chain management, finance, and operational strategy, and is excited for this new chapter for Wolseley UK in the country. “The formal completion of the acquisition means we can now focus and build on the momentum and financial security that the teams in the businesses have successfully produced over recent years,” Mark commented.

The new Group MD talked to Ireland’s Plumbing & Heating Magazine about the new strategic plan for the company and what is in store for the Group’s new brands. P&H: How have the first three months been since the acquisition? ML: I have been visiting all branches across the country and now we are working on a new strategic plan for redeveloping sites for Heat Merchants, Tubs & Tiles and Hevac. Each branch comes with a history and has their own plans, and we need to be able to support those plans, so it made sense to talk to everyone before planning. P&H: What does this new strategic plan entail? ML: We are working on a three-year- long plan and there will be significant investment involved. There will be no

structural changes as we are keeping all the jobs, but we plan to refurb the branches, look for new locations, promote the brands and develop the companies. We are looking to grow, so the people who developed the business and brought it to where it is at will continue leading it. I have just announced the management team, with Garrett White as MD for Hevac, Shane Colleran as MD for the Heat Merchants Group (Heat Merchants and Tubs & Tiles), Mark Walker as Sales and Commercial Director for Heat Merchants and Colin McLoughlin as MD for TubeCo. The strategic plan will also continue developing the brands as providers of solutions, not only products. I was delighted to see the added value that we bring with the quotations. We don’t just send out a price for individual parts, we quote for a solution with all the parts working together, certified, engineered and insured. The building regulations
