Q: What role have you and your organization played in recent protests? A: After George Floyd was murdered, we mobilized in conjunction with some other local organizations to lead that rst initial protest on the square. After that, we were doing a lot of work in collaboration with those leaders planning actions and protests. We started participating in a lot of the organic work that cropped up. We became acquainted with some of the organizers. As a result of one of those protests, statues came down. Q: What has been a specic focus of some of your work following local protests? A: A lot of these leaders from these protests started getting arrested.at was particularly alarming, so we started pivoting the protests that we were planning to start being about freeing them as political prisoners. On top of that, people involved in the protests also started getting issued subpoenas to testify in front of a federal grand jury. So now we’ve pivoted again to being focused on grand jury education. A lot of these activists are still awaiting trial in jail, so our goal is to work with them and educate the community on what a grand jury is and what their rights are.
