Annual Report of A&A Committee - 2020-2021
Charlie Leahy Chair It was a busy season for the volunteers of the Architecture and Aesthetics Committee, and our Compliance Officer Julia Miramontes. A total of 330 applications for lot improvements have been received and processed. Each application is reviewed and approved by the volunteers, including a visit to each of the lots. In addition, nearly 50 RV’s have been inspected as part of the sale of RV’s within the resort, or used RV’s being brought into the resort by new owners. Recent changes in A&A procedures will help us speed up the A&A processes and deliver more consistency. Julia as our compliance officer is now performing all RV inspections and lot inspections that occur with the buying and selling of RV’s and the buying and selling of lots. This will allow our A&A volunteers to focus on issuing the lot improvement permits. Many people believe that the resort has never looked better. We have had a large number of owners making major investments in their lots. As we close out a very successful season, it’s good to identify some areas where we can do better next year. 1. We can improve working relationships with realtors in order to expedite the purchase and sales of lots and RV’s. This includes better cooperation with the realtors on lot inspections and escrow closing procedures so that we properly welcome our new owners. 2. We can improve the working relationships with contractors so that they better understand the A&A rules and perform the work consistent with our high standards. 3. There is work to do for the Board of Directors in amending the A&A rules to communicate more clearly with the owners and contractors as to which improvements are allowed and which improvements are not allowed. This includes reducing the number of unwritten rules and correcting some of the language that is often misunderstood. 4. We also have openings on the A&A committee and are actively looking for new recruits. We fully expect we will have a new burst of A&A activity in the Fall when we return to the resort and welcome anyone who would consider joining the committee to contact any member of the committee or member of the Board of Directors. On behalf of all of our owners, I would like to thank the members of the A&A committee for their dedication during a very busy and difficult Covid season. Julia Miramontes has been terrific in her role as administrative assistant to the committee and she has greatly improved the processing and record keeping to support the work of committee volunteers. Thank you Julia and committee volunteers.
Wishing all a healthy summer and looking forward to our return in the Fall, sincerely, Charlie Leahy, Chair, April 21, 2021
