TENNIS COMMITTEE – 2021 YEAR END REPORT TO THE BOARD

Our tennis community was happy to see the long-awaited tennis center (Courtside Patio) come to fruition . Although we weren’t able to utilize it in the way we anticipated, we appreciate what it will provide for future events. So far, we ’ ve been using it as a viewing area for league & ladder matches; but we have a St. Patrick ’ s Day Mixer coming up and will likely use it somewhat as a gathering area for that. We weren’t able to raise any funds this season. After paying for half of the furniture at the Courtside Patio, we had planned to do some fund raising for other additions to the patio area. Like a BBQ, serving table and an ice dispenser. Down the road perhaps a proper sun shade rather than umbrellas could be pursued. For the most part, court conditions have been good this year. A big thank you to Ed, Byron, and his staff, who have worked with us to get through most issues. Thanks also for the quick response to our request for bottle filling stations at the water fountains at LP. Our new Board Liaison, Kathy McCune, has jumped right in to help out too. We are grateful for her assistance, and truly appreciate all board members for sharing their time and talents on our behalf. As an outgoing Tennis Committee member, I wish to thank my fellow committee members who I ’ ve worked with over the past two years. I ’ ve enjoyed getting to know you all better and I appreciate your commitment. Since taking up tennis seven years ago at Brian ’ s Novice Clinic here at ORPS, I look back with joy, knowing it was one of the better decisions I made over the past seven years. Tennis is, and will continue to be a big part of my life. Not only for the enjoyment and health benefits, but because it has allowed me to meet and associate with some wonderful people.
Have a great summer everyone. See you back on the courts next season!
