!e second annual MaryMcKechnie Open took place August 30 at the Hawkesbury Golf and Curling Club in support of curling at the club. McKechnie is a strong supporter of cur- ling and served on the board of directors for

many years. At 99 years old, she !nds it a little di"cult to get out on the course now. “Curling is alive and open at the Hawkes- bury Golf and Curling Club,” stated Alex Hor- vath, president of the Curling Committee. “#ere were rumours going around last year that we would be clo- sing. But that is not the case. We are pleased to make this the second annual tournament in support of curling.” McKechnie’s son Stewart was at the course ready to play. “She came down last year and we took pic- tures with her,” he said.

Le match inaugural des Hawks aura lieu le 5 septembre à Ottawa, face aux Lumber Kings de Pembroke. Ils a$ronteront ensuite l’équipe des Mavericks de l’Ontario Hockey Academy de Cornwall, le dimanche, et le rendez-vous du lundi soir se fera en compagnie des Grads de Cumberland. En raison de la formule showcase de la ligue HEO midget AAA, les Hawks ne joueront pas beaucoup de matchs à Hawkesbury et aucun match au Complexe sportif Robert Hartley n’est prévu d’ici la mi-novembre.

C’est cette "n de semaine que l’équipe des Hawks U18midget AAA disputera les deux premiers matchs de son histoire, lors du showcase d’Ottawa de la nouvelle ligue HEOmidget AAA à Ottawa. Les Hawks ont fait les dernières coupures à l’alignement le 29 août, à la suite de parties face aux Senators d’Ottawa et aux Colts de Cornwall. Si certains joueurs choisis lors du repêchage de 2015 se sont taillé une place au sein de l’équipe, dont Brett Romain, Alexandre Elie, Luke Paquette, Brandon Légaré, Nathan Sauvé et Cedric Roth, d’autres n’ont pas eu cette chance.
