Congratulations to all the Graduates of the Class of 2022!
A lot has happened in the past year. Many of you had to navigate the world resetting itself while still managing Covid 19, Monkeypox, climate change impacts, the economic repercussions of the Russian War on Ukraine and more! These unprecedented circumstances may have caused a
shift in your perspective or even a new version of yourselves to emerge – no matter what - I encourage you to look to the future with hope, purpose, vision and passion. I am honoured to salute you all and your achievements today and I do so with immense Pelican Pride . As a fellow UWI graduate, I am delighted to officially welcome you to the UWI Graduate Family and to bring you special congratulations on behalf of the wider global alumni population. Please always remain involved with your Alma Mater whether through: the Pelican Perks Advantage Programme which allows you to get discounts at stores and businesses via your UWI Alumni Association (UWIAA) Chapter membership; by contributing stories of your achievements and innovations via the UWI Nexus and UWI Connect publications or the Global UWI Alumni Hub (uwiglobalalumnihub. com); the Soft and Life Skills Webinars; the Alumni Engagement Programme; or E-Mentorship, sharing your knowledge/experiences with students and young graduates. Your University will be celebrating its 75th Anniversary all year long in 2023 and I do hope that you will join in the various activities, whether in person or virtually. Your relationship with your university and the new generations of Caribbean young peoples it produces annually is extremely important. Global UWI Alumni Day 2023 will be very special – so please plan on participating on JUNE 26, 2023. As stated in the UWI Alumni Pledge, I invite you all to be “catalysts for Caribbean development and leadership.” There are UWI Pelicans all over Caribbean, and the world, making their communities and societies better places to be – and I know you will also make your unique contributions. My warmest wishes to you all for your myriad ‘futures’ – enjoy the journey!
