EDITOR’S LETTER

Welcome

EDITORIAL – 020 3488 7754

Editor-in-Chief SARAH GARRETT sarahg@spmgroup.co.uk

The country has decided and we now have a new Government. It has been a very interesting couple of months, but Labour won the election and I am optimistic about the changes that they will bring to a tough housing market. Labour’s plans to address the housing crisis through an accelerated housebuilding programme will lead to better housing options for buyers, and first time buyers will be supported by the extended mortgage guarantee scheme. We will see how it all pans out

and I really hope that housing is high on the agenda as sadly it seems to have been overlooked in the past – I am positive and look forward to the future when we can get more and more first time buyers on to the property ladder. Voting for our FTB Readers’ Awards 2024 is in full swing. There is still plenty of time to cast your votes and you will find the shortlist on pages 87-107 so please take a moment to go to ftbawards.com – thank you. We are now, more than ever before, aware that we have to try to lead a sustainable lifestyle. This is very important when it comes to building new homes too, and they will also save you money in the long run. Do turn to pages 22-26 where we explain what is being done and highlight some excellent homes with green credentials. I hope you enjoy this bumper issue, which is packed with information, and if you are struggling to understand how the homebuying process works, then I am sure you will find the answers to your questions inside.
