INTERVIEW

SHOW STOPPER!

Award-winning interior designer Pandora Taylor has just unveiled the exciting new one bedroom show home at The Auria, by Peabody New Homes in Notting Hill. Lynda Clark caught up with her to find out all about her fascinating career and where her inspiration comes from, and she gives some excellent advice to first time buyers on how to furnish your first home

Applying her signature style, which blends contemporary and more traditional perspectives to enrich everyday lives, Pandora brought her energy to the home with a lively colour palette, rich materials and meticulous attention to details. She introduced sustainable materials with natural timbers, a natural patina and quality, durable and tactile textures which can be seen throughout the home with the choice of furniture. The dining and living areas feature bark- like rust oranges, mossy greens and golden straw tones grounded by sky blue walls. Sunshine yellow curtains frame the large windows, maximising the light that flows into the space, and art from emerging artists is mixed with strong black accents, giving an urban edge to reflect the character of the local area.

She said, “I like to embrace a project and my designs are based around the location and the story around the property. Each one is different and has its own identity – everyone is very special and means a great deal.” She has just finished designing the new show home for Peabody, where she displays her unique design for the new generation of buyers. She said, “I loved how Peabody wanted to create something that spoke to the area. They were really considerate about who we were designing this space for and how they wanted to live, and this meant we could create something with real authenticity.”

Pandora has always been creative and very hands-on and she started her career working in auction houses. She said, “I always had artistic tendencies but not the skills.” She visited a friend’s studio and loved what she saw, which inspired her to do a course at the KLC School of Design followed by doing a couple of internships. She then got a job at Kitesgrove, which she loved. She said, “It was a great grounding for me. They did work which was authentic and characterful and I could really relate to it.” Eventually, Pandora took the plunge and five years ago she opened her own studio and has worked in both London and abroad.
